Cardboard Sculpture
Artist Statement: I chose to emulate Rhythm with my piece, showing an upward repeating spiral that I called "King of the Hill". I chose to use increasingly smaller supports for each individual section to give some symbolism (despite the fact that I hate abstract symbolism).
Description: It is a colorless spiral. It appears to have increasingly smaller supports on each level, with a small triangle on top.
Analysis: Lacks color, however makes up for this in rhythm. Manages a sense of balance with the structure.
Interpretation: To me, it is a symbolism of hierarchy, with the largest and strongest supporting the smallest and weakest. Then, on the very top, is another of the smallest ones, "on top of it all".
Judgement: I don't think I like it. I'm not a fan of abstract art, and not much of a fan of political statements in art.
