Series of Three
Artist Statement: The first two pieces actually weren't meant to be flawed. I unintentionally messed up certain aspects, but I decided to go with them since they had created some interesting designs or natural looks.
Description: They all appear to be a jade green in color, with smooth textures. The first two appear to have very noticeable flaws like chipped and folded edges. There appear to be thin parts of the glazing on edges and raised surfaces.
Analysis: Unity in color: maintains the same color pattern of jade. For the first piece, good balance. for the second, interesting use of texture.
Interpretation: The major theme of the pieces altogether looks like flaws make the world interesting. The unusual part from the edge removed from the cup and the folded walls of the smaller bowl don't look perfect, but they do maintain a sense of interest, and through their imperfections, like people, they seem interesting.
Judgement: I'm not that much of a fan of the small bowl, but I do like the cup. The shape and design compliment each other, and give it a good rustic or old feeling.
