Assignment 5: Portraits and Hands
Subject 1 Artist Statement: In order to get my photos, I allowed each of my subjects to choose a few of the expressions. My dad chose some more inquisitive and negative expressions for the first three expressions. Then I followed a general guideline for the last two: turn the head and choose an expression, and smile at the camera.
Subject 2 Artist Statement: For these photos, I used my sister telling her to choose the first two. She took it a little less seriously than my dad, so then I took over, using the last photo format for the last three. Of course, I figured I'd take two smiling photos, since she looked happy one way, and tired in another.
Subject 3 Artist Statement: I asked a friend of mine from my church if I could take photos of her. The first photos were pretty standard, but then I managed to catch her while someone was talking to her during the last two photos. This led to me getting a photo of her casually talking, and then another when someone told her a joke.
Hands Artist Statement: The hand photos were taken in the same room as the photos I took of my family, so most of them shared the same background. I just asked my dad and my sister to do random or iconic poses, thus leading to the fist bump and the Adam and God/"ET Phone Home" poses. Then I just took simple poses with a couple of props and one against the window.
Assignment 6: Choice Composition
Assignment 7: Postmodern Principles
A Few Remarks (So nobody gets upset):
Firstly, about the Hybridity Photo, it is a representation of a game character "Link" from the Legend of Zelda Franchise. He is not a girl, nor is he an Xbox or Microsoft character (saying these things to a LoZ fan will brand you as a heretic). I only used an Xbox controller for convenience. Secondly, in my Recontextualization photo, I did not carve the words into the light post near the playground. As you can tell from the old, worn paint over it, it has been there for a long time. I'm pretty sure it was some other kid from Clague or another school who wanted to make some art (which isn't uncommon since there's a tunnel nearby covered in graffiti).

Assignment 8: Motion
The photo shooting process for this was very difficult, since around where I lived, nothing interesting seemed to move (or moved away before I could get a good photo). That mostly changed when it began to rain, making nearby streams and cascades flow like crazy, making it a little bit easier. Then, after taking some water photos, I decided to venture down a nature trail to get some implied motion.
